In Memory Of:
CHIEF SPOTTED MOON
May 14, 1999 - August 18, 2006
Our family (both human & horse) suffered a devastating loss this past summer. We are very sad to tell of our loss of our beloved stallion, Chief Spotted Moon. He was an amazing horse with a wonderful, loving temperament that he passed on to his foals. He produced many gorgeous babies and he made us very proud. We miss him terribly and there is not a day that goes by that we don't think of him & how wonderful he was to have around. "Romeo", as he was known by the many people who loved him, was just the kindest, most loving guy and was only too happy to try to make people laugh with his antics. He was loved by many and always a farm favorite whether it was a girl scout group visiting, neighboring barn kids taking a tour or family & friends visiting. His babies here on the farm just loved him too. It was amazing to see the bond between sire & foal---something many have never had the privilege to witness. That bond was strong as ever with his "kids" still on our farm until the day of his passing, & was evident whenever he was near his offspring no matter their age. His babies knew him & loved to play over the fence with him.. He was so gentle & tolerant of their tugging on his halter & nibbling his nose. He loved to be near his babies, so we would most generally pasture him by them. When we had an orphan foal sired by him a few years back, we pastured her next to her daddy. He came thru for us just as we prayed he would and showed his "fatherly" love to her letting her sniff & nibble at his face thru the fence & run back & forth along the fence with her as she grew stronger. When "Gracie" wanted to take a nap, she would come to the fence near him to lay down. He would come as close as possible to the fence to stand over her to keep watch, much like her mom should have done.
Romeo was an awesome stallion and we feel truly blessed to have had him in our lives. We are very grateful for our time together. We are also thankful for the wonderful friends we now have and the many people that we've met over the years because of him . We take comfort in the fact that he is now free to roam in God's pastures and will never feel pain again. He has given us memories that will last a lifetime and many wonderful babies that will be a huge part of our lives & that we'll cherish for many years to come. There are no good-byes for us, Romeo. It's "Until we meet again, sweet boy!"
